Information communications technology is how we send and receive information electronically, usually using computers. As a technician, you’ll help keep these systems working.
The information communications technician (ICT) apprenticeship is the perfect entry point into the world of tech. You don’t need to be a tech whizz already. All you need is a desire to fix things and help people solve problems.
Typical tasks could include:
- using tools to troubleshoot problems, either remotely or in person
- configuring computer systems
- diagnosing hardware faults
- solving problems with applications
As an ICT apprentice, you’ll start by learning core technical skills before specialising as a Support Technician, Network Technician or in Digital Communications.
Apprenticeship duration: approx. 18 months
Salary expectations: starting salary can be between £14k and £27k
